History of Our Club

Conceived as an idea by a few sportsmen and made into a reality by men of the Slate Belt and Pocono area, from which it derived its name, The Pocono-Slate Belt Shooting Association offers to the Trap Shooter a place to test his or her skill. It is for this purpose that the Association was organized. A charter was granted to the association on July 16, 1962.

1964
Saw a big step taken by the association, the purchase of 138 acres of land      in North Bangor, the installation of four traps for the blue rock shooting, the renovation of the farm house that housed the association headquarters from 1964 to March 2008.
1980
A fifth traphouse for trap shooting was added.
1987
A sixth traphouse for trapshooting was erected.
1990
A picnic pavilion was built with 26 picnic tables.
1991
      Barn renovations were started.
2003
The addition of voice release on all six traps.
2006
Construction was started on enclosing the picnic pavilion to turn it into a modern club house.
2008
We moved into the new club house, the farm house was renovated to give the caretaker the entire building, and jumped into the cyber age with the addition of this web site.
For 50 years members of Pocono Slate Belt Shooting Association have and hold the foresight in which the founders had in 1962. Their ideas, dedication, and hard work is the strong foundation on which our gun club strives today, and will continue long into the future.
